These scenic photos were taken along the Black River in Pattison State Park near Superior Wisconsin. The trees were in full color and their radiant colors reflected perfectly on the river near the top of Little Manitou Falls.

The two photos above were taken at the top of Twin Falls and the picture below was taken from the base of Little Manitou Falls.

This photo was taken near the shore of the Black River at the top of Big Manitou Falls.

Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan.

Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive

While driving through Port Jervis, New York, I turned on Route 97 and followed the winding road into Pennsylvannia. The scenic road leads into Hawk’s Nest, which runs along the Delaware River. I decided to stop with my family and took some photographs of the colorful autumn trees and river.

Autumn aspen trees nestled among the conifers within the Uinta National Forest, on the Mount Nebo Scenic Loop Byway (a.k.a. the Nebo Loop Road), Utah. As you climb the Loop, maple trees give way to aspens, and they finally give way to the conifers (see thumbnails below).
Forest Ecology: Here’s a little forest ecology many people don’t know: Quaking Aspens (Populus tremuloides) are the “nursing mothers” for conifers — they actually allow conifers to take hold in an area. Sometimes the conifers will eventually push out most of the aspen and become the dominant species!

Along the North Fork Road
Glacier National Park
It was rainy and cool today. We got up at 4 a.m. planning to get first light at Logan’s Pass, but the road construction had the Going to the Sun Road closed until 7 a.m. so we turned around and took a more remote drive up the Inside Road from Fish Creek to Polebridge. No bears.
But we always stop at the Polebridge Mercantile to pick up some focaccia bread.
This was a misty, rainy view along the North Fork Road as we returned to Columbia Falls.

This picture was shot on a tripod with five exposures (-4..-2..0..+2..+4EV). I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tone mapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. 1 layer mask to increase color and contrast in the sky. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Used Nik Sharpener Pro to sharpen image.
A closer up shot of Vista House. There were lots of people at Vista House. Some, like myself, were waiting for sunset. Presented in full HDR!
